A variable power 3.9 or even a variable 4-12 target reticle scope is more than enough to "coyotes" in an open plain Rifles Varmint HB area.Most with endoscopes is very effective at this level of increase. Coyotes do not bother me that much to start from a target and most decent plans 80-150 meters on average. The brand and type can, of course, on the left side of you and your budget and taste. Personally I use 4.12 for many years with great success in Colorado and neighboring states .....
4.5 to 14 or 6 to 18 should work correctly.
Well, there is a difference between doing a lot of coyote hunting and a lot of shooting.
If it is a weapon that would sit in the office until it's time to go hunting, so I think a 3x9x40 or 4x12 is fine.
